Talk:Using BlackBerry As Modem

I had success connecting XP to the internet using a Blackberry 8310, on the second try. The Extra Initialization command listed as,

at&t Users (Success!)

AT+cgdcont=1,"IP","WAP.CINGULAR"

was the one that worked. (The one labeled "Cingular Blue/AT&T Users" was not successful.)

Unfortunately, I was unable to use the Blackberry modem without having the Blackberry Desktop running, in contradiction of the last part of item 5. I also note that, after the Blackberry's screen has gone dark for a while, the modem goes to sleep. Pressing a button to wake (light) the Blackberry brings the modem back to life.
